Hello, I am Arne Hillebrand. Currently I am working to obtain my PhD at the Department of Information and Computing Sciences of Utrecht University. My promotor is prof. dr. M.J. van Kreveld and my supervisors are dr. R.J. Geraerts and dr. J.A. Hoogeveen.

My research focuses on topics related to crowd simulation. One of the topics I am working on is extracting information for humanoid navigation from 3d-models. Using the current technology, this process can be slow and introduces errors in the final representation. I am working on a solution that processes a 3d-model in several simple steps. These steps try to fix errors in the environment and remove irrelevant information from the 3d-model. You can read more about this project here.

Lately I have also been doing research on how pedestrian simulations are used to assess human safety. A large group of different metrics for safety exists, like density, flow and pressure. Unfortunately, a lot of different methods exist to obtain these values. Currently, we are studying if these different methods yield different results, statistically speaking.
